Coach Cathy Manthey is the Director of the Splash program.
She has coached for over 30 years in the Bay Area and is widely
recognized for her attention to detail when it comes to the
technical aspects of swimming and race strategies. Coach
Cathy’s program philosophy includes teaching life skills and
character lessons by working toward swimming excellence. The
SPLASH mission statement, "We Place Kids First," reflects her
commitment to making the team experience both educational and
challenging as well as providing a good measure of fun. Coach
Manthey holds a Level 5 certificate, the highest level attainable
from the American Swim Coaches Association, of which she is a

Kevin Parizi
Head Coach
Email
Kevin is an ASCA Level II certified swim coach. In his first
year as Head Coach for Valley Splash, Kevin brings years of
coaching experience and swimming excellence to the program. He has
been coaching both the Valley Splash team and the Valley Christian
Varsity swim team for four years in addition to his numerous years
teaching lessons through the Swim America program. As a
swimmer, Kevin began his career at the age of eight with DeAnza
Cupertino Aquatics (DACA). At fourteen years old, he
qualified for the Western Zone All-Star team; a meet in which his
relay broke a Pacific All-Star Record that still stands today. As
an age group swimmer, he won several events at the Junior Olympic
and Far Western Meets, including achieving the Far Western High
Point Award for his age group. He has been ranked in the National
Top 16 in numerous events including backstroke, breaststroke,
freestyle, Individual Medley and relays. During his four years as a
high school swimmer at Valley Christian, he earned fourteen
All-American titles, placed in the Top 3 at CCS in individual
events and relays over ten times, and set seven team records. Kevin
also achieved time standards to compete in the US Open, Junior
National, Short Course National and National Grand Prix meets. Some
of his most memorable experiences come from these meets where he
was able to swim head to head with his swimming idols: Aaron
Piersol, Brendan Hansen, Jason Lezak and Michael Phelps. In 2008,
Kevin earned a scholarship to swim at the University of California,
Davis, where he trained with elite level athletes like teammate
Scott Weltz (2012 Olympic Trials Champion and fifth place at the
London Olympic Games in the 200 breaststroke). Kevin feels that it
is an honor to be named the new Head Coach of Valley Splash and is
excited to pass on his extensive knowledge about the sport to the
next generation of elite athletes.

Santiago Maciel
Age Group Coach
Email
Santiago has been coaching swimming for five years, two with
Valley Splash. He has had the opportunity to coach at three
All-Star development meets as well as the North American Challenge
Cup in Edmonton, Canada. He has also been a volunteer coach at
Pacific Swimming All-Star camps. As a swimmer, Santiago swam
competitively for thirteen years. He was an All-American in high
school and college, with a specialty in distance events, the 200
fly, and the 400 IM.

Andrew Kikuta
Age Group Coach

Andrew has four years of coaching experience. This is his second
year coaching with Valley Splash, but coached at South Bay Los
Gatos for two years previous and just finished his fourth summer as
an assistant coach for the Shadowbrook Sharks. Andrew was one of
the first swimmers to ever swim for the Valley Splash team. He swam
for twelve years, beginning with SJA as a young swimmer and
finishing his career by swimming for the UC Irvine team. Andrew
holds multiple Splash team records.

Nik Kikuta
Age Group Coach
Email
This is Nik's first year coaching for Valley Splash. He has also
coached two years of JV Water Polo at Bellarmine. Nik was one of
the first swimmers to join Valley Splash when it started after
transferring over from SJA. He swam competitively for fifteen
years, for four years on Valley Christian's Varsity Swim Team and
for two years at West Valley.

Kikuta S Kyle
Head Coach - Shadowbrook

Kyle has been coaching swimming for seven years. He has been
running the Shadowbrook satellite pool for two years and is the
Head Coach of the Shadowbrook Sharks cabana team. He has also been
an assistant coach for Valley Christian High School, and most
currently, Bellarmine College Prep. While coaching at Bellarmine,
the swim team won their 27th and 28th CCS titles in a row. He has
also coached water polo at both high schools. Kyle has been invited
to coach at many Pacific All-Star Meets including : Pacific Coast
All-Star Meet ('10 Cerritos, '11 Gresham, '12 British Columbia),
North American Challenge Cup ('09 La Mirada, '10 Santa Clara, '11
Puerto Vallerta, '12 Edmonton), and the Zone All-Star Meet. As a
swimmer, Kyle began swimming competitively for the Pinehurst
Piranhas at age 7. He swam club for SJA and Valley Splash as well
as four years of Varisty Swimming at Valley Christian High School
and two year at West Valley College.
